Understanding.
To have been on the other side of that mental brick wall, and based action and behaviour toward others on something which you can now see to be untrue, flawed and harmful gives one an understanding of those who have also been there. We can lament our time there together, rejoice over our escape from it together, and give each other input and advice on living outside a high control group, in the real world.

I've been pretty much silent on what I've found (family still in), so I'm still experiencing the "love" and getting cards every so often.
One couple sent me a get well soon card because I'd been absent from the hall for months. How patronising is that? I didn't know whether to laugh or what.
How did you go about telling people about the UN thing? "Did you know the Society was an NGO?"? -

Hi Mr. Majestic. I suppose if you find thinking around the stories intellectually stimulating, all well and good. No doubt people could summise all sorts of things related to the Genesis stories. But if it's genuinely bothering you and you want to make sense of the literature in the bible, can I recommend 'How to Read the Bible: History, Prophecy, Literature - Why Modern Readers Need to Know the Difference, and What It Means for Faith Today' by Steven L. McKenzie?

I'm glad they've taken the traction control away. Anything that places more of the end result in the driver's responsibility is great, as long as it's safe enough.
I'd like to go to a race one day, and have heard that it's VERY loud as AlphaOmega found.

Thinking of you, Hortensia. As others have said, it's not wrong to feel down. I don't know your history, but as you're on an ex-JW forum I'm sure you have very pertinent reasons to feel the way you do. Guess we have to acknowledge that some days will be better/worse than others and accept it.
Keep going mate. You'll get somewhere better in time. -

Witness owns Flower Shop-advertises-sells birthday-holiday arrangements
by Thechickennest ini have been away from the organization long enough not to know how this family is allowed to sell and profit from selling birthday and holiday gifts.
as far as i am aware they are active jw's.
they do a lot of advertising on the internet specifically for all the holidays and birthdays that jw's are not supposed to be involved in to the best of my knowledge.

They/the elders obviously view it as a conscience matter as they sell normal flowers as well. But I guess some others in the congregation would talk about it.
(Pssst... I used to do Christmas cards at my employers work. And I even processed porn mags. What a weak Christian I was.)
